Term 2, Week 3 & 4

 Cross Country

Room 13 took part in the school Cross Country. Everyone tried their best and did really well. Friday was also Pink Shirt Day. Room 13 celebrated it alongside Room 11 and Room 12. We looked at who started the Pink Shirt Day and the reasons why we remember to do it.

Week 4 was New Windsor's Samoan Language Week. Room 13 looked at slides that had heaps of information about Samoa including its history, culture and national anthem. The week ended with a guest speaker who shared his culture with the whole school in assembly.

In the last block of the day on Friday Miss Key surprised Room 12 and 13 with Panikeke and Koko alaisa. We all got to try some and decided to write poems filled with adjectives to describe the experience.

Thanks Miss Key!

Term 2, Week 2

This week Room 13 found out about the pacific island nation of Rotuma and looked into different parts of their culture, history and language.

We also started our Measurement Unit in Math. Santi came in to help Mr Jones and Room 13 figure out the dimensions of a space in our Math problem.

Thank you Santi, Room 13 learned a lot last week.

For Art we have been finding out information about Vincent Van Gogh and the type of painting that he specialized in. Room 13 has even had a go at recreating some of Van Gogh's most well known pieces.

Aliya's depiction of Van Gogh's Art.

Next week is Samoan Language week, Road Safety week, AND Cross Country. Lot's of things to learn about.

Term 2, Week 1

 Welcome Back Room 13

Those holidays sure went fast. Mr Jones drove down to Palmerston North for a friend's wedding
in the second week of the holidays.
Room 13 shared their holiday activities with each other and then chose three things that they thought were the most exciting and wrote about them. It was very fun to read about all the awesome things that happened over the break.

New Windsor School has also started a new team program linked to our school values. The entire school has been organised into four 'Fales'- each named after a native tree.

We have Kōwhai, Kauri, Totara, and Rātā. The teachers have even been sorted into the Fale's as well. Mr Jones is in Kauri with Whaea Tini, Mrs Ghosh is in Rātā with Ms Corbett, and Miss Key is in Totara.
